“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Joshua 1:9 New Living Translation
Life’s whirlwind of circumstances and emotions can be overwhelming.
In favorable times you feel like the sun is shining on you and you are flying high with no need for an anchor. The dreadful times are spent looking for any relief from the storm raging around you that threatens to drown you in its ferocious waves.
When life takes a sudden turn or when the storms shake the ground beneath us, we quickly see how tightly we’re clinging to things that were never meant to anchor us. Since there are going to be sunny skies and storms for all of life, our goal is to live in the eye of the hurricane. It’s the calmest part while the outer edges bring the most activity. But don’t let it trick you into thinking you are safe in the storm. It’s closer than you imagine, and the wind can change. That’s why we need to prepare our hearts and minds for every circumstance and remember that God is with us wherever we go.
Jesus is the safest place and our anchor no matter what the circumstance. He holds you more firmly than your fears hold you. He will never leave you alone, because you are His redeemed child through his death and resurrection. Rejoice in that truth and trust Him in sunshine and in the storm.
