God is So Good!

Does this couple seem just a little giddy, like they are having some real fun?  You bet they are!  After over a year of delay, they were finally able to go with their children and grandchildren to Disney World and celebrate together a long awaited family vacation.  It is understandable if they felt like being just a bit silly.  Right, Mickey and Minnie?

Maybe sometimes as believers in our Lord Jesus, we should act just a bit more giddy ourselves.  After all, God has given us life, watched over us and preserved us daily, sent His own Son into the world to save us from hell, and promised us an eternity to rejoice with all believers.  Maybe we should get out of our “down in the dumps” gloominess and dance a bit before the Lord at His great goodness!

Yes, I know, there is much grief and sadness and pain in this life.  But we have the most amazing news in that God did not leave this world in the midst of its sin and death, but sent His own Son for you and me.  This is why we can celebrate, even in the midst of a very flawed world.

“If Christ is for us, who can be against us?” asks Saint Paul.  And the Psalmist exhorts us “to give thanks to the Lord, for He is good, and His love endures forever!”  There is joy in Jesus; great, amazing, mind boggling joy!  I think it is wonderful to share that joy, to even be a bit silly once in a while.

Lord, although there may be sadness in this world, You are our joy and our true happiness.  We thank you for Your wonderful goodness in Jesus.  Amen.
