“No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
My body rests in safety.
You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.”
Psalm 16:9,11 New Living Translation
The holiday season is over. It’s January, the start of a new year. Maybe you are happy the holidays are over and you’re back to daily routines. Maybe you dread the cold gray days of January. Perhaps you are exhausted like this puppy and just want to curl up under a blanket and sleep the winter away.
Whatever you feel right now, know that you have a God, Savior and Friend who knows you intimately, even the very depths of your soul. Your Savior knows your pain, joys and needs like no one else on earth could. Jesus experienced days of hard work, joyful occasions, delightful friendships and intense pain. He is the God of healing, comfort, blessings, joy and peace.
Rest in Him for a moment, whether it’s at the first light of day, on the way to a business meeting, taking your children to school, off to see a friend in need, or your last waking moments of the evening. Choose to focus on a verse in Scripture, share what’s on your heart with Him or just be still and listen. Spending a moment with the Lord who loves you unconditionally will change your life in ways you never contemplated. He will always be near to you.
