“…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation…”
2 Corinthians 5:17-18 English Standard Version
Moving can be scary and hopeful at the same time. You don’t know what the new beginning will look like and that can be scary, but you hope that it will be an opportunity to start fresh with a clean slate and new life.
Your new beginning in Jesus Christ can be like that also. You can be scared and hopeful at the same time. You may be afraid of letting go of control and admitting that you need help. You can also be sure that some relationships are going to change and some old habits need to go.
But you have great hope at the same time. In serving Jesus you gain a freedom over sin and a new life of forgiveness and harmony with God. There may be challenges but you know that there will be joy and faith and love in abundance.
Yes, just like moving to a new house, there can be difficulty in transition and some messiness before you learn how to be in harmony with your new surroundings and lifestyle. In becoming a follower of Jesus there can be difficulty and some new things to get used to.
But Jesus promises that becoming a new creation in him is worth the difficulties. And joining him in his sweet work of reconciliation and helping others experience this new life is amazing. Jesus promises to walk with us in this transition and through every difficulty even as we experience new life and joy in him. The move is so worth it!
“Amazing grace – how sweet the sound – That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now am found, Was blind but now I see!”
