This Christmas my oldest niece brought home a new, furry family member. My youngest niece couldn’t wait to meet the precious, cuddly puppy. There is much anticipation and excitement at a new life.
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 English Standard Version
In a couple of days it will be 2020, a brand new year. Some of you will confidently embrace the year to come, seeing the days as full of promise. Some will enter it with trepidation of the unknown days ahead. To be certain, we all have no idea what our future holds.
The good news is that we don’t have to wait for a new year or new decade to become a new person. Christ makes all things new. He freely forgives our sins and transforms our minds to become more like Him. He gives us hope and healing, removing any anxiety, worry or fear of the future. He fills us with a peace beyond understanding. This gift is yours, at this very moment, from your Savior who loves you dearly.
Hold this gift closely, just as you would a treasured puppy and never look back on the old year or the old you! Then, boldly let His love illuminate the world’s darkness, for in Christ it is always a promising new day.
