Finding His glory in the less than ideal.

This was the view my husband and I had from the room we stayed in for our anniversary get away. It was a little less than ideal, with the freeway and the street lights in the way. And when we opened the window, instead of the mountain melodies of chickadees and trickling streams, there was the sound of rushing motor vehicles. Also, it had been a long winter and I was impatient for leafed trees, but spring’s full force hadn’t crept up that high into the Rockies yet, leaving both the aspens and me longing for green.
It might not have been the untainted mountain experience I would have preferred, but there was still much beauty to be enjoyed from our window. In spite of the distractions, this mountain was glorious! The testament to the faithfulness, creativity and power of God that this capped peak declared made the distractions seem puny when we held our attention on it.
This is always the case no matter what tainted view is before us. We long for the beauty of heaven, but rarely does our experience in life come close to that reality. When we zero in on God and focus on the many gifts and promises He has placed before us even amid less than ideal circumstances, we will find every ounce of beauty will draw our hearts to awe, gratitude and praise.
“Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances,
for this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ.”
1 Thessalonians:5:16-18 New International Version
