Time with Jesus

After the holidays end what happens? Easter and Christmas are climaxes in the Christian churches but what about in us? Do we stop thinking about the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus after all the smoke clears from the celebrations?
The Holy Spirit has been infiltrating our bodies and minds since Jesus ascended to Heaven. What is His job? To catapult us into a constant relationship with God, to continue the journey after the celebrations end, providing ways to receive and give love to God and others.
We can’t move toward God in our own strength. We need a helper, a counselor, a person full of wisdom, a teacher. This is a job only the Holy Spirit can take on.
Don’t be discouraged in the aftermath of the celebration. Lock arms with the Holy Spirit and see what He has waiting for you. Rest in God’s arms when you’re tired. This is the place where the one on one relationship is clinched. Spend time getting to know God through the Bible. Write down words He wants you to know about Himself and how he sees you. Pray throughout the day, even if it’s just for a few seconds, get quiet and center in on Him.
There is a multitude of ways to reach God and to let Him touch you.
Mary and Martha both loved Jesus deeply. Martha showed her affection by cooking and getting everything ready for his visit. But Mary sat at Jesus’ feet and just drank Him in.
“As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, ‘Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!’ ‘Martha, Martha,’ the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.’”
Luke 10: 38-42
In the post-Easter season I encourage you to just sit at the feet of Jesus. Just let Him love you.
