“Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He makes the whole body fit together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love.”
Ephesians 4:15-17
Couplers have been continually used in trains from the early 19th century to today. A freight train can include more than one-hundred cars and be over a mile long. Couplers hold the cars together, from the first tug of the engine, as its force overcomes the inertia of each car, to the end of the train. A coupler requires extraordinary strength and flexibility to maintain its hold over hills and dips, around curves, and over rough track. Coupling is directly controlled by the driver, using a control panel in the driver’s cab.
We are linked to each other in Christ. We are on this journey together, carrying out God’s work over hills and valleys of life, traveling through unexpected curves and rough times. We each have a special and necessary part in God’s kingdom that helps others to grow in Christ on their journey. Christ, as our master conductor, assembles us to flawlessly fit together to accomplish His perfect will.
We all have a special bond in the body of Christ, encouraging each other in our shared faith as we also share Christ’s love with the world. Live out His purpose boldly and without fear! You won’t derail from His intended design, because His unsurpassable strength holds tightly on to you through your travels together.
“Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose.“
Philippians 2:2 New Living Translation
