Waiting is hard when you’re ready to go.

This year we’ve all done a lot more waiting than most of us are used to. We wait for restrictions to be lifted to see people again and we wait for life to become normal. We may wait for our groceries to be delivered, for a medical diagnosis or a job offer. Often, we wait for God to give us the green light to move toward the next big thing in our lives. We plan, prepare and pray in our excitement about a new mission adventure or starting a new ministry. But when the answers to our prayers do not materialize in our timeline, we must wait.
Waiting is hard. Sometimes we try to rush God along. Sometimes we get angry and give up. Sometimes we wait but with a bad attitude.
“Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.”
Psalm 27:14 New Living Translation
David tells us to wait patiently for the Lord—not once, but twice. These phrases are bookends to the center of this verse telling us to be brave and courageous. It takes courage to trust God and actively wait for His direction and immeasurable patience even if we have faith. It takes a lot of trust to wait for His leading and not forge ahead without Him or push ahead of His plan.
“Let all that I am wait quietly before God, for my hope is in him.”
Psalm 62:5 New Living Translation
Never give up waiting for God. He is working for you in ways you can never imagine. While you wait, prepare your heart for His answer. Read His word, keep praying and develop patience. God will always wait for you to turn to Him in faith. He is your true hope. He promises the waiting will be worth it.
