This pigeon lives in our neighborhood. He is often on our roof, looking down on us as though he is watching our every move. He hangs out for a while, then flies away to find a more interesting view from another roof.
“I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth!
He will not let you stumble;
the one who watches over you will not slumber.
Indeed, he who watches over Israel
never slumbers or sleeps.
The Lord himself watches over you!
The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
The sun will not harm you by day,
nor the moon at night.
The Lord keeps you from all harm
and watches over your life.
The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go,
both now and forever.”
Psalm 121:1-8 New Living Translation
This world is scary. There is so much evil, illness, and tragedy that fear and anxiety threaten to rule our minds. But these verses reveal that we have a great God who watches over us from His heavenly throne. He stands tall like a shade tree to provide us with refuge. The Lord never sleeps or is distracted as He guards us in our every moment.
He never gets bored watching you. He will never abandon His post. God loves you, His created child, and will stand beside you, watching over you today and forever.
You have a God who loves you dearly and, no matter what happens in your life, He will always be there actively protecting you from all harm, keeping you close to His heart. Rejoice and give thanks to God for He will never leave your side!
