An Offering

by Elizabeth Haarberg

Because of God’s love, all of us have something to say.

I’ve been sitting here, for a while, with the thought that I have nothing to write about. So, I put that thought down on paper.

Everyone has something to say, write, draw, or sing when they know God. Even when we feel like we have no inspiration… take a look out at nature, look up, and praise or write about the goodness of God. There are multiple ways to get the pump primed.

There’s never nothing to say. God is constantly speaking loving words over us, and sending His angels to sing over us. He is constant rest and movement, all at once. He can be still, and move mountains at the same time. He is beyond our wildest imagination, and I have a big one.

Psalms is stocked full of how good He is.

“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!”
Psalm 34:8

“Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Psalm 23:6

For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.”
Psalm 84:11

The psalmists wrote in times of deep despair, and glory. They knew the power of the written word. Writing about the goodness of God is healing. It brings strength to our circumstances. It is hope.

Reminding ourselves about God’s nature is the connection, or reconnection, with our roots.

“For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.”
Psalm 139:13

He knew us before anyone. Now it’s our turn to get to know Him. He is waiting…waiting for us to turn a little more toward Him…to climb a little higher up the mountain.

He has given us the gift of words, writing, and praising to return the gift to Him. We express the love we have for Him and hopefully draw others in to the journey.

You have something to say. The world is waiting. The words God implanted in you have the power to heal and conquer darkness. Be bold!
