Beginnings

Where we only see endings, God blesses us with new beginnings.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One.”
Revelation 1:8 New Living Translation

Outside of newborn babies and newly planted seedlings, our focus is often more on endings than beginnings.

There are a lot of endings in life. Summer ends and autumn begins. We begin a new job with little fanfare but celebrate its end with a retirement or going away party.

Sometimes we dread endings. When loved ones, friends or co-workers leave, we mourn the end of the relationship. Sometimes we can’t wait for endings. Illness, disasters, pandemics and life’s difficult situations can have us asking “Will this ever end?”

God is the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end of everything. He continually gives us new beginnings. He is always working on something new for us even while we feel deep loss or frustration. He is working out his perfect plan for us, so we can confidently begin each new day and each new adventure knowing we have His help and constant presence. God’s beginnings are always amazing, exceptional and perfect. In the beginning He created earth. The birth of Jesus was a new beginning for all of us. His return will be a new beginning for all eternity.

Even when the ending is unwanted, look at it through the eyes of a Heavenly Father who loves you and is working out His absolute best for you.  View it as the beginning of a new work God is accomplishing in you.

“Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.”
Lamentations 3:23 New Living Translation
