“You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.”
2 Timothy 3:15-17 New Living Translation
There are some social media influencers who purchase old cookbooks, then recreate the recipes from them. Some of these turn out amazingly great, and some taste so horrible you can’t even imagine that they were ever good or that anyone really ate those creations. These are recipes you would never imagine anyone enjoying.
People have used God’s Word as a sort of recipe book for their whole lives, but there are others who cannot ever imagine that the wisdom found there would offer beneficial guidance. To many it’s just a set of outdated, old-fashioned rules. Yet for all the conversation around how the Bible is full of archaic words and unrealistic life advice, many of the quotes people use today have their roots in Scripture. There are some people who publish encouraging quotations on their social media, never realizing that their source for that inspirational quote is in fact Scripture. God’s words still have as much merit today as they did in the past and will in the future, for the best recipe for life still comes from the holy awesome word of God.
Keep living by His word and continue to grow in the truths it contains. It’s the best source we have for truly knowing who our amazing God is. It is invaluable for addressing issues, problem-solving and discerning what work and purpose God has for us to do in our lives.
