Seeing more than what we already know.

When I look at this photo, I imagine myself lying on that lounge shaped rock in the sun, listening to the peaceful ripple of water, breathing in the beauty all around me.  Yes, I know there’s snow in the background and it might be cold, but I can’t seem to let that observation in.  Worse, when I close my eyes and imagine myself there I begin to realize I’m not imagining this place at all.  This picture was taken at Bear Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park.  Though I have been to similar places, I have never visited this spot.  I look at this scene but I know I am not really seeing what is there, because I am remembering other places in my past that are more familiar.

God described what He has for us in our future, both in Heaven and on earth.   Yet we fail to understand the fullness of it because we can only compare it to that which we know.  We truly cannot begin to imagine how much more is available to us.  Thankfully He helps us.

 “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
1 Corinthians 2:10 New King James Version

It is with the help of the Holy Spirit that we can learn more about who God is and all He has prepared for us.  Because He loves us He will continue to reveal new things that amaze us and glorify Him.  It is possible that one day I may experience the place in this photo, but it is guaranteed that we will all encounter the things God has ready for us, things far more spectacular than we could imagine on our own.
