Broken Yet Beautiful

When our brokenness meets the light of Christ, our purpose becomes perfect.

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”
2 Corinthians 4:7 New Living Translation

I purchased a glass ornament set, and when I removed this from the box it had a significant crack. I decided to glue it back together. In spots, you could tell where it was previously broken, but once I hung it on the Christmas tree, the branches hid some of the imperfections and the Christmas lights reflected the glitter pattern on the ball so that you couldn’t really see that it was broken. It just looked pretty on the tree.

While all of us are created beautifully in God’s image, we all have cracks and scrapes from living in a sinful world. Thankfully, God doesn’t see us that way. Even in our brokenness and imperfections, we are beautiful to Him because God sees us through the eyes of His perfect Son and our Savior, Jesus Christ. His light shines in and through us so others who see that light are drawn to Christ, regardless of our shortcomings and scars, and at times even because of them.

So, if you feel like your flaws and wounds are overwhelming in your life, know that Christ sees you as His beautiful child and has a purpose for you that can’t be diminished by any imperfections you have. His light shines through you daily to others as you stand in His presence and rely on His mercy and love. Keep living in His light and grace!
