Whether Joy or a Challenge

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.”
Jeremiah 29:11-12 English Standard Version

I have this thing where I like to take pictures of our cat when she has found a new spot to lay down. I don’t know why it fascinates me. I think it’s because overall, she’s fairly predictable. If I can’t find her, I know I can look on our bed, or in my husband’s desk chair, or in my son’s loft bed. She has her favorite spots. But then one day suddenly she’ll just pick a new spot to try out, and it tickles me every time. When I took the picture here, it was the first time I’d seen her lay on top of this shelf.

I’m generally a person who is not good at change. I tend towards routine, and I like things to be settled. When change comes around, I’m very resistant to it, and if it’s a big change, it’s not tackled without many tears on my side. But that doesn’t mean I don’t wish for change sometimes too. If things start to feel old I start to wish that I could find a new perch just like our cat, to see things from a new perspective or have a refresh.

Whether our seasons of change are more refreshing or more challenging, we are so blessed to have a God who is constant. We can look to Him as our rock to lean on, and we can look to Him with gratitude for every new thing he gives us. God promises to be our rock and that He has wonderful plans for us and will care for our needs.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
