“Come close to God, and God will come close to you.”
James 4:8a New Living Translation
Before this pandemic, we didn’t want anyone to drive too close to us or invade our personal space. Our current reality calls upon us to physically stay away from each other—at least six feet.
While we still don’t appreciate another driver tailgating us, it feels different now that we have to social distance. We miss our friends and family and being around people. We may miss hugs, handshakes or friendly touches.
God designed us to be close to other humans—and Himself.
The last thing God wants is for us to distance ourselves from Him. He asks us to draw closer to Him through reading His word, in prayer and with repentance. Maybe during this time you are turning to Him even more and are sustained by His presence. Maybe you are filled with sadness and anxiety and it’s difficult to feel close to Him. Either way, get as close to God as you can. He promises to come to you, no matter where you are or how you feel. He loves you and wants to fill you with His peace and shower you with His mercy. There is no social distancing from our ever-present and loving God.
