He Never Leaves
You can listen to today’s devotion by clicking on this SoundCloud link.
God never leaves us; he is always present. But God’s presence is a mystery. And even though He never leaves us, He continues to ask us to come to Him.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 English Standard Version
It is to our benefit to go to God and give him our burdens. In return, He will give us rest and refreshment.
So, how do we do this? Simply lay every anxiety, worry, and issue at the foot of the cross. There is very little that we need to do. Being open to receiving His love and trusting that He will care for us are vital in the process of “coming” to God.
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
James 4:8 English Standard Version
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13 English Standard Version
God is not hard to find because He created us and He knows how to relate to us better than anyone on earth. He is so ubiquitous that he can be personal with every person created. We can’t imagine the facets of God because even though we are made in His image, we are just a sliver of His whole. But the more we spend time with the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, the more we become like them.
“For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son”
Romans 8:29 English Standard Version
If you are feeling like your faith in God is dry or you feel far away, don’t give up. Continue to seek God and he will give you rest, draw near to you, and you will find Him right where He has always been, right next to you. Ask the Holy Spirit for help; He’s there for comfort, understanding, power and more.
There is a team of people, the Trinity, who are waiting to give us all we need. All we have to do is draw near. They will tell us what to do next.
I’ve attached a song that has helped me in my journey to come to God. Enjoy!
