“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”
John 10:10 English Standard Version
I get it. Bunnies are cute, that is, until they destroy your garden. This fuzzy little creature lives in my neighborhood. Though there are not as many rabbits as in the past, there’s still plenty of them to do damage. I’m lucky that I have a dog and grandpuppies.. They’re good at keeping these critters our of my vegetable garden.
Satan is a thief whose desire is to rob us of joy and life.
Movies love to depict Satan as this fiery, red monster dwelling in the dark recesses of society. However, he’s most effective when he comes as something cute and cuddly, as something that seems as innocent as a bunny.
Satan will do whatever it takes to rob you of the life that Jesus has come to give you. Jesus states that he has come as our shepherd to give us life, abundant life. Satan will do anything to rob you of that life, a life that brings joy.
So how do we deal with this pesky thief?
Many of us put a fence around our gardens to protect our plants from rabbits. We know that these fences will keep our gardens safe from bunnies. God has put a fence around our lives to protect us from Satan’s schemes. That fence is the Word of God, the Word that covers you with forgiveness and protects you from Satan’s lies.
Remember, the thief has already been defeated, his fate sealed in the death and resurrection of Jesus.
