Delayed

Waiting…And More Waiting

I’ve heard a few messages and conversations this week about a delay in someone’s life. Even though I’m often quick to point out “God’s timing” to others, when it comes to my life or those I care about, it doesn’t seem like a sufficient answer to the pause in life.

“I wait for the Lord, I expectantly wait, and in His word do I hope.”
Psalm 130:5 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition

“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness”
2 Peter 3:9 English Standard Version

God is on time, all the time. Jesus is present during every event and circumstance in our lives. The Holy Spirit is working through us to get us to the right place at the best time. Patience is in short supply in our world but not in God’s kingdom.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control;”
Galatians 5:22-23 ESV

“The thoughts of the [steadily] diligent tend only to plenteousness, but everyone who is impatient and hasty, hastens only to want.”
Proverbs 21:5 AMPC

I’m writing this because I am working on my own patience, mainly concerning my children’s future. I want the “best” for them, which can mean I want their lives to go the way I think it should go. This is challenging at times due to timelines and events being delayed. God knows how their stories have been, are, and will be. Trusting that God has my children on the divine timeline that only he is privy to, is challenging at worst and a relief at best.

Take a deep breath, let God move over you and your family, and rest that Jesus will create the perfect scenario, not in the way or time as the world says but as God ordains.
