Derailed?

“I have chosen the way of truth; I have set my heart on your laws.”
Psalm 119:30

It is really easy to get off track. You understand what I mean…we start out on a project, with good intentions and lots of enthusiasm, and over time we lose our way.

I really intended to stay on the diet…I really intended to mend that relationship…I really intended to not gossip…I really intended to read my Bible…but somehow, along the way, I got off track and lost my way.  My heart knows the right thing to do, I truly intend to do the right thing, but I somehow wander away from that which I know is right.

Saint Paul put it this way, “For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out.” What shall I do? I can not do that which I know is right! Who will help me in my weakness and sin?

Paul has the answer, “Thanks be to God – through Jesus Christ our Lord!”  In my weakness, in my sinfulness, I call upon the Lord.  In my day of trouble, He will deliver me. God has provided a way out of my endless cycle of good intentions gone bad.

The way out is Jesus Christ.

The Lord Jesus died for me. He paid for all my sin. He is the way out of my cycle of frustration, and the way to the Father. His Word is sure and true. His love is everlasting. He comes to me in my weakness. He forgives, and strengthens me. He will not leave me in my frustration, and pain.

Lord Jesus, thank you that you do not leave me when my life goes off track. Keep me in your Way and bring me to eternal life in You. Amen.
