The little things in life are now the big things.

“You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.”
Psalm 63:1 New International Version
It’s been months of waiting, but we were finally able to enjoy “Epic Breakfast” together. The weather was delightful, and it was good to catch up with friends that I normally see online. We shared news and updates and asked one another for prayers for specific intentions.
Because we have an ongoing relationship, we know one another’s interests and happenings, although there are also stories of unexpected events, such as the surprise wedding of one of our children. We love each other and are familiar with one another.
Time with God can be similarly epic, whether we are postured in prayer or chilling out with the Bible and a cup of coffee in the park. God is everywhere, and is always there for us. Many people like to start their day with God before the day’s noise begins, while many find their quiet time at the beginning of the night.
Unlike a conversation with friends, however, God knows what we’re going to say before we say it. In fact, he knows everything we’re going to say and do our entire lives. If you think about it that way, a conversation with God can be a bit awkward: “Hello, God, guess what happened today…”
“Hear my voice when I call, Lord;
be merciful to me and answer me.
My heart says of you, “Seek his face!”
Your face, Lord, I will seek.“
Psalm 27:7-8 New International Version
The point here isn’t to try to stump God with something new, since he knows all of that too. He wants all of your heart, soul and mind. Seek the Lord and you will find him. Talk to God and he will listen and answer. Share the good times, the sad times and even the angry times. Through it all, God loves you and never tires of hearing from you.
Let the peace of God be your invitation to be in fellowship with him.
