Daunting times need a fresh perspective.

“Turn to me and have mercy,
for I am alone and in deep distress.

My problems go from bad to worse.

Oh, save me from them all!

Feel my pain and see my trouble.

    Forgive all my sins.”

Psalm 25:16-18 New Living Translation

Facing challenging circumstances in our lives can feel like encountering a line of hulking, menacing buffaloes. Family struggles, health issues, job concerns and finances often feel daunting and overwhelming. Anxiety and fear lurk in every corner, and it may take all the strength we have to deal with the overload on our emotions and our minds. On days when so many problems pile up, our minds can’t fathom how to successfully navigate all our troubles or escape our fear and hopelessness.

What’s not helpful is a world that focuses on self-reliance and willpower to solve all problems and eradicate all fears. We know following that path doesn’t lessen our fears or lead to freedom from the stresses they cause, as there is more anxiety in the world than ever before. We feel left in despair to face these situations alone. We lose our perspective.

Thankfully, we are never without hope! Our heavenly Father cares deeply for us and cares about us.

“I will be glad and rejoice in your unfailing love,

for you have seen my troubles,

and you care about the anguish of my soul.”
Psalm 31:7 New Living Translation

Our hearts and minds need a fresh perspective…
