“They don’t know where to find peace…”
“They have no fear of God at all.”
Romans 3:17-19 New Living Translation
Just a year ago my niece was fearful of the giant characters she met in stores or at events. They seemed more like monsters to her rather than cute fuzzy animals, but now that she is more mature she is fine with befriending the mascot of her local grocery store.
There are many monster-like circumstances that play on our fears. Our world is full of disease, pain, violence, and hatred. These can cripple us with fear, anxiety, despair, and rob us of peace. Those who don’t know God have never experienced real peace.
“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
John 14:27 New Living Translation
A man of faith once said, “Fear God, nothing else.” Why waste valuable energy on fear when you can focus it on trusting God? Taking the time to learn who God truly is, and the depth of His love for us, leads to the assurance that we can trust Him with anything and everything. As your relationship with God matures, His incredible peace will envelop you like a warm blanket even when you find yourself sitting next to your fear.
“Such people will not be overcome by evil.
Those who are righteous will be long remembered.
They do not fear bad news;
they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.
They are confident and fearless
and can face their foes triumphantly.”
Psalm 112:6-8 New Living Translation
