Finding New Strength

by Desiree Bustamante

Those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.

I am sure that someone, somewhere, feels like this dog. Kind of tired, a little weary, just wanting to curl up under a cozy blanket with a comfy pillow. Maybe you’re thinking of a friend of yours, or maybe this is you. You’re feeling a bit under the weather, or you’re weary of the 6” of snow you got last night. Needing to be healthy again, needing sunshine after a long winter, needing peace.

But there is so much to accomplish, so much work to be done. There is such a long list of tasks that it’s overwhelming and exhausting. You mutter to yourself, “I feel powerless today. Why, God, don’t you fix the problem. Give me what I’ve been praying for, or give me answers to my questions. Do you even see my troubles? Do you care if I am tired or sick or powerless?”

Read these words God gave to Jacob and Israel but insert your name for theirs in these verses.

“O Jacob, how can you say the Lord does not see your troubles?
O Israel, how can you say God ignores your rights?
Have you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.”

Isaiah 40:27-29 New Living Translation

These words are encouragement, given for you.

God knew that His people for generations to come would need powerful reassurance in a world full of sin, decay and evil. He knows this, because He saw His own Son Jesus rejected, tortured and killed on this same earth where we now live. He knows everything you face, from the minor irritations of life to the catastrophic events that change everything.

He is there for you. He is there for your loved ones, your friends, for everyone who reaches out to Him.

Reach out to God now with an open heart. He promises to give power to the weak, and strength to the powerless. He never grows weary of encouraging you, for He is the everlasting God.
