Follow His Signs

by Desiree Bustamante

God provides guidance at every crossroad of our life.

“You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
Psalm 16:11 New Living Translation

The sign that marks this road stands in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by farms. It’s a small country road, yet someone clearly wanted to make sure it wouldn’t be missed. Perhaps in the past, travelers had difficulty finding it, so a larger sign was installed to point the way. Now anyone can easily see where to turn whether it’s a farmer heading home, a visitor passing through, or emergency vehicles needing to find their destination, even on the darkest night.

Sometimes I wish life came with signs like that, clear markers telling us which road to take to find a fulfilling career, a lasting relationship, or a fruitful spiritual life. At times, God graciously provides direction that is unmistakable, revealing the path He has chosen for us. Other times, the signs seem absent. In those moments, it may be because He is still preparing the road ahead and asking us to wait patiently, trusting Him with our future.

Not every sign we encounter points in the right direction. Some tempt us with shortcuts that lead us away from God’s best plans. Thankfully, He has given us boundaries through His Word and guidance through prayer to help us discern which roads are safe to travel. When we seek God’s wisdom, He helps us recognize when a path does not align with His will.

The good news is that we serve a God who never leads His children astray. He faithfully provides wisdom and discernment to those who seek Him. As we follow the signs that point us to Jesus, we can walk forward with confidence. No matter how uncertain the journey may seem, we will never be lost when we trust His daily guidance and allow Him to direct our steps.
