Fluttering by what would disrupt our journey.

There were a lot of painted lady butterflies floating around Colorado Springs recently. This one of many stopped to feed on my Russian Sage plant. They usually don’t come to our city in such droves, but they had a year of good conditions and their population increased. Once the temperatures get colder, the days become shorter, plants die off, and the butterfly makes its way to Arizona, New Mexico, and northwestern Mexico to enjoy the Southwest winter. They base the direction of their journey in response to strong wind patterns and can glide hundreds of miles each day to their destination. This year the migration was so large that they could be tracked on radar.
“And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.”
Ephesians 4:30 New Living Translation
We are also on a journey. We are a large community of believers who travel through this life together to our goal, Jesus Christ and eternity in heaven with Him. On this journey there are many pitfalls such as evil in the world, addictions, and selfishness. There are many seemingly pleasurable temptations which can derail us from our journey. However, God gives us just the right pattern of wind, the Holy Spirit,to encourage us, to keep us on track in the way we should live, and help us glide through the storms of life to reach our destination. As we respond with faith and obedience to His leading, we can navigate this world safe in His arms.
“May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.”
2 Corinthians 13:14 New Living Translation
