“And the one sitting on the throne said, ‘Look, I am making everything new!’ And then he said to me, ‘Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.'”
Revelation 21:5 New Living Translation

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

I’ve begun something this past year that I have attempted before but at which I’ve never succeeded. I started journaling. I’ve been keeping this journal most every day since the beginning of September. So, recently I thought it would be good to write down my remembrances of 2019 in my journal.

As I attempted to write, I realized how hard it is for me to back and remember the good and the bad of this last year. Maybe it’s selective memory. Maybe it’s too painful. Maybe it’s that I’m getting old. It’s probably due to the fact that I’m a present oriented guy. I live in the moment.

New Year’s Day is a good time to reflect. It’s good to go over the past and to think about those things that caused us both to weep and rejoice in 2019.

We rejoice over the many blessings that we received.

We weep over the times that our hearts were broken.

Through it all, we hold on to the promise that not only is God making all things new, but we also hold on to the promise that God is making us new.

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!”
2 Corinthians 5:17 New Living Translation

In the joys and sorrows that wait for us in 2020, may we hold fast to the God who is always making things new and giving us new life through the gift of his Son, Jesus Christ.

  1. I have to journal everyday, as well, to remember anything that happened. Glad I’m not alone in that. Blessings to you for 2020, Pastor!
