God’s Goodness Overshadows Life’s Ruins

Time to stop lingering over what has been lost and focus on what Jesus wants you to find.

“Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 3:13,14 New Living Translation

Have you ever had a time in your life when it was difficult to move on, even though deep down you knew that it was what Jesus wanted you to do? Maybe it was a good job that ended suddenly. Perhaps a relationship was lost, either messily or tragically. Maybe everything you owned was destroyed and you had to start over. But while you may have had no choice in what happened, it’s hard to let go. We are often more comfortable living in what we know, even if it’s painful, than moving on with our lives. It takes courage to allow God to pick up the pieces, heal us, and forgive others and/or ourselves when needed.

Fortunately, God doesn’t demand that we end our grief and sadness overnight. He walks with us each day, revealing more of himself and His next plan for our lives as we are ready, all the while providing for our every need, physically and emotionally. We are so blessed to have a relationship with a kind and thoughtful God, who only wants the best for us here in the land of the living and for all eternity.

If you find yourself in a tough time or season of ruin, turn to the one who understands what you are living through. He will comfort you in your sorrow or struggle, promising His presence, healing and guidance. Soon you will see the abundance of God’s grace, mercy and blessing along the path of His plan for you, and you will know joy in your heart and soul again.
