“The gods of other nations are mere idols,
but the Lord made the heavens!
Honor and majesty surround him;
strength and beauty fill his sanctuary.O nations of the world, recognize the Lord;
recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong.”
Psalm 96:5-7 New Living Translation
Sometimes the best sunrises appear during our most mundane tasks like driving to work, shopping at Walmart, or picking up a quick breakfast. God often surprises us with spectacular beauty to remind us that He loves us, that He is our Creator and that His goodness and sovereignty is visible if we only look for it.
The Psalmist pleads with all the world’s inhabitants to recognize that God is majestic, full of strength and the Creator of all beauty. We all need to look up and see the wonders that fill this earth, for they all point to the one true God and His son Jesus. We have no strength or beauty within ourselves, only that which Christ gave us through His defeat of sin. He makes us whole and beautiful in His presence and through His eternal Love for us.
Look around today and see the sunsets, autumn trees, gentle snowfall and the kindness of others to you. These are reminders of God’s love and existence. He never forgets or overlooks you. He is with you every moment of every day. Praise Him for His amazing presence and encouragement in your life, and inspire others to seek Him, too.
