“How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!'”
Isaiah 52:7 New International Version
Have you ever had a special letter arrive, a letter that turned out to be good news for you? It might have been a letter accompanying some much needed money, or news from a loved one who is in a foreign country, or perhaps an unexpected card or note just when you needed it most.
Whatever that good news was, it gave you great joy and you were happy to receive it. And you were thankful for those who got that good news to you, who sent the good news, who carried the good news, who delivered the good news.
And even so, I thank God for those who delivered the Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ to me; my parents, my grandparents, my Sunday School teachers, Christian friends, pastors, and a whole host of other messengers who told me about Jesus. Where would I be if they had not told me that Good News? I would be lost and without God or comfort in this world. I would have no hope or peace or real love.
Take a few minutes to give thanks to God today for those who brought you the Good News of grace and peace in Jesus Christ, who told you of the Father’s love, who comforted you in times of despair and brought you Light in your darkness. And take a few minutes to thank God for His Good News of salvation in Jesus Christ for this whole world!
Dear Lord, thank you for all the people who brought me Your Good News. Give me courage and joy in sharing that Good News with others. In Jesus name. Amen.
