“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.”
Ephesians 3:16-18 New Living Translation
This old oak tree has been standing for decades. Located near a lake, its roots are deep and able to soak up life-giving water throughout its existence. Countless birds have built nests in this tree, making their home among sturdy branches, which they can trust to be secure even through a storm.
We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to discover and acknowledge the One God who saves us. When we learn more about God and His love for us through the Holy Spirit at work in our lives, our spiritual roots grow deeper in Him. We discover we can safely nestle in His mighty arms when anxiety or fear enters our hearts. And as that trust builds, fear moves out, preparing more room in our hearts for Christ to make His home, furnishing every chamber with His love and peace.
May the Holy Spirit give you the power to understand how amazingly immense and profound God’s love is for you this day.
