“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”
Romans 12:2 New Living Translation
The beginning of 2018 was observed in a variety of ways throughout many parts of the world yesterday. Some people reason that it’s just another day that follows the day before. Others believe it’s a day to start over after a year that may not have lived up to expectations. About 45% of Americans resolve to improve some area of life through a vow to stop smoking, get out of debt, spend more time with family, or the number one resolution—losing weight. Unfortunately, one in three people won’t stick with their resolution for even one month and only about 8% of those who make them actually keep them until the end of the year.
Unrealistic goals or timelines, lack of accountability, or the effort it takes to change habits often account for the failure to change.
“What is impossible for people is possible with God.”
Luke 18:27 New Living Translation
But if you seek true change, look to God for real transformation. He knows you inside and out because He created you. He also knows how hard it is to make changes in your life because of sin in this world. But remember that nothing is impossible with God. He alone has the infinite power to bring about lasting transformation in all areas of life. No matter what you choose to change this year, resolve to spend more time with God, leaning on Him to help you transform your mind and your life according to His plans and the desires of your heart that He gives you.
Happy New You!
