When I Get Weary…

2020 was a wearying year…. Covid, unrest, fires, restrictions, fears, unemployment, isolation, more Covid….  Yes, many of God’s people are tired.  They are not so very strong and their faith is tested, and temptations to panic are everywhere.

Perhaps you find yourself weary.  And although there may be hope on the horizon, the present situation exhausts you.

Hear Isaiah’s words,

“He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.”
Isaiah 40:11b New International Version

Or as our Lord Jesus said,

“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 New International Version

The road is long and the devil and this evil world torment us, believers in Christ Jesus.  But we are not alone in the wilderness, we have not been abandoned.  We are Christ’s lambs, and He has not forgotten His flock.  He protects us and leads us and carries us and….dies for us.  He loves us for His name’s sake, and will rescue us from every situation.

When the way is too hard, when the dangers are too great, when the temptations are too strong, when your guilt is too heavy, cry out to Jesus.  The Good Shepherd will hear you and rescue you and carry you through every day and every night until He takes you home.

Lord Jesus, I cry out to you in my distress.  Save me and carry me.  Grant me faith in You where I am weak and weary.  Thank you that you will never leave me.  For Your name’s sake.  Amen.
