He is Coming with the Clouds

Clouds are a sign that God is present.

“I will thank you, Lord, among all the people.
I will sing your praises among the nations.
For your unfailing love is as high as the heavens.
Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.
Be exalted, O God, above the highest heavens.
May your glory shine over all the earth.”
Psalm 57:9-11 New Living Translation

There are ten basic cloud types, but over a hundred variations of cloud formations. They bring rain, snow, hail, thunder, lightning, and storms. Clouds are significant in the Bible. In Exodus, God went before the Israelites in a cloud to guide them through the wilderness and often used them to signal His presence in the Tabernacle. He created a rainbow in the clouds to affirm his promise to Noah to never again destroy the earth by flood. God’s voice from a cloud announced to people that Jesus was His beloved Son. Jesus was taken up in a cloud at Transfiguration, and He will come back in glory in a cloud of heaven.

Clouds embody the presence of God. The next time you see a cloud know that your Lord and Savior is near, especially when the skies of your life seem dark and cloudy. Through the sorrows and hard times, He teaches us how to walk by faith and trust Him even when we can’t see His brightness shining through our troubles. Always look for Jesus in your clouds! And trust that one day He will come back with the clouds of heaven to take you to be with Him forever.

“Sing praises to God and to his name!
Sing loud praises to him who rides the clouds.
His name is the Lord—
     rejoice in his presence!”
Psalm 68:4 New Living Translation
