We’re not human beings having a spiritual experience. We’re spiritual beings having a human experience.
~ Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
I watched a movie about near death experiences a few weeks ago, and one of the people who experienced nearly dying made a statement that we are spiritual beings. It was an interesting take on life on Earth. This article isn’t to debate whether we are human, spiritual, or a combination of the two but more of a pondering of ourselves.
“So God created man and woman and shaped them with his image inside them. In his own beautiful image, he created his masterpiece.”
Genesis 1:27 The Passion Translation
God created humans to look like God.
“For although we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide.” 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 The Passion Translation
There is so much hidden in the Word about who we are and how we’re wired as humans. The frustration and irritation humans experience at times are in opposition with the fruit of the Spirit, which are also options anytime we are locked in with the Holy Spirit.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22-23 New International Version
We have choices and that makes all the difference in our lives whether we are walking with God or getting pulled by gravity to experience the reality of this Earth.
Stay above the areas that cause bitterness, resentment, irritation, frustration and shift your mind toward the fruit of the Spirit. Ask God to fill you up again with the Holy Spirit so you don’t depend on yourself. Move toward Jesus to learn loving ways with every person you meet. These are the choices every day that we make, to abide in God and invite God to move into our bodies, mind and soul.
