We all know someone who is starving for Jesus.

“In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do.
Live so that they will praise your Father in heaven.”

Matthew 5:16 International Children’s Bible

When word of Jesus’ radical teachings and miracles spread throughout the land, Matthew, the tax collector, was curious about this man who lived a radically different life. Matthew was very wealthy and may have seemed to have it all, but his heart was hungering for more. When Jesus saw the emptiness Matthew felt, he invited Matthew to follow Him. He accepted the invitation, becoming one of Jesus’ disciples. Later Matthew invited his friends to come to a dinner party to see Jesus and experience His life and words. Matthew knew that if his friends could have the profound experience of seeing Jesus and His life of love, they would follow Him, too.

We often find it difficult to talk about Jesus to nonbelievers. Most of us feel woefully inadequate. We mistakenly feel we must speak with eloquence or have a well-written script before we can be effective at sharing our hope in Christ. But the Holy Spirit works through us in our everyday lives, pointing the way to Christ by our actions and our love. We only need to follow His leading. He is the one who prepares us to speak words of hope. He is the one who opens other’s hearts to the gospel.

Pray that the Holy Spirit would help you give someone a taste of what Christ has done in your life.
