“Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O LORD, and you are exalted as head above all.”
1 Chronicles 29:11 English Standard Version
It can be fun to see something so astounding that your brain has a hard time comprehending it. We recently had a series of snow storms that dumped about two feet of snow around us, giving my kids three snow days in a row! It was a lot of snow to begin with, but the largest amount came on the last night of the storm. As it came down I kept looking out different windows, trying to process just how much snow it was, and trying to take pictures so I could share the vastness with family and friends. No matter how hard I tried, though, the pictures just couldn’t do it justice.
I love this aspect of God’s majesty. Look how much snow it is! Look at how striking those mountains are! Look at just how big the ocean is! Look at how incredibly vast space is! Look at how ridiculously beautiful my children’s faces are! There is majesty in the universe that is almost too much for us to comprehend, and as 1 Chronicles tells us, it’s all the Lord’s! He created it all, and He is head of it all. And if we cannot comprehend the majesty of the earth, imagine how much more Heaven will be!
I thank the Lord for His creation, for creating us to live in it, and for sending His Son to be with us so that we can see the majesty of God’s face one day in Heaven! Amen!
