You may have heard the saying “If March comes in like a lamb, it will go out like a lion.” This legend means that if the weather at the start of the month was gentle like a lamb, the month should end with bad weather like a lion.
“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, ‘Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!’”
John 1:29 New Living Translation
Lent begins this week. This traditional observance follows Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God, through His ministry as He is baptized by John the Baptist, tempted in the wilderness by Satan, and performed miracles of healing, casting out demons, and raising people from the dead. Christ preaches the good news of salvation for all, proclaiming that He is the Good Shepherd, the Living Water and the Bread of Life. After a time, His words become a threat to those in earthly power. His journey leads to an agonizing death and glorious resurrection where he, as the Lion of Judah and the resurrected Jesus Christ, wins the victory over Satan’s stronghold on our lives.
Christ’s life story is fascinating. Study His life this Lent and see what your Lord has done, all because He loves you more than His life. Walk with His words embedded in your heart and mind, for they will lead to His magnificent victory over death on Easter and an eternity lived with Him forever.
“But one of the twenty-four elders said to me, ‘Stop weeping! Look, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the heir to David’s throne, has won the victory.’”
