Christ is my Life!

“For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
Colossians 3:3-4

“This is my life!  I’ll do what I want! You can’t tell me what to do!”  Perhaps these words sound like they might have come from the lips of a rebellious teenager.  From someone who is entitled and ungrateful.

But don’t you and I act like this all too often?  We act as if we owed no one anything and we were in control of our destiny.  But of course, we do owe God everything and we are not in control of our destiny!

For the eternal Creator God created us and all things.  He breathed the breath of life into our nostrils an formed us while we were in our mother’s womb.  He gave us all that we have in this life and seeing our sinful condition, did not hold back the life of His own Son who freely gave Himself as a ransom to save us from hell.

And yet we often act as if we owed God nothing, as if this life was all about us, when in reality, this life is all about Jesus.  When Jesus died on the cross, our life was hidden with Him in that death on the cross.  When Jesus appears again, you and I will appear with Him in glory.  Without Jesus there is nothing but death and hell and condemnation.  With Jesus, there is life and heaven and forgiveness.

When you look at life, all that matters is Jesus.  To know Him as Savior, as Lord, as Redeemer.  It is not all about me, you know, it is all about Jesus!
