“On his robe and on his thigh he has a name written, King of kings and Lord of lords.”
Revelation 19:16

Jesus identified himself as the Son of Man. When someone asked who he was this was his ‘pat’ answer. He revealed himself through parables, relationships, and sacrifices.

Jesus openly claimed His identity when John saw Him while He wrote Revelation. Not only was the name on his body but also on His robe. We don’t have to guess whom this verse is discussing. Jesus is claiming and wearing his identity.

How often do we hide our identity on Earth? We are children, friends, servants, brothers/sisters of Christ. Is our identity written on our body and clothing? More than that, are we willing to proclaim our identity?

Revelation 19:11-13 states that Jesus “is called Faithful and True,” he “has a name written that no one knows but himself” and “the name by which he is called is The Word of God.”

We can know who Jesus is by these short verses that reveal His nature and identity.

However, knowing who He is and following Him are two different things. We can know someone but not have relationship with them. The same is true with Jesus.

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
Matthew 7:21-23

Names are important. Glorify His name as He reveals His nature to you in His Word so that you might become more like Him.
