Enjoying God’s Presence

“Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!”
Psalm 128:1 English Standard Version
Like many of you, I enjoy going for a walk or a hike. Yes, there are days when I hike out of habit, when the only reason I’m out enjoying creation is because it’s good for my lungs and heart. There are days when my back barks at me and says, “There are better things you could do with your time like sitting in your recliner and reading a novel.”
Most of the time, I look forward to getting out on trails around my community, and when you live in Colorado Springs, there is no shortage of trails that a person can hike.
The Bible often talks about our life in grace as a walk with God, a walk in which we will experience his blessings. I met a woman walking in a popular park in Colorado Springs, she was hiking up a hill while I was hiking down. I don’t remember who started the conversation, but I asked her a question I often ask, “How’s your day going.” And she responded by saying something like, “I’m out enjoying the Lord.” And when I looked at her face, I saw that she meant what she said.
That picture has returned to me often and not necessarily when I’m taking a stroll. My most precious time of the day is when I sit down in the morning with my cup of Joe (pour over of course) and read God’s word. It is a time when the two of us go for a stroll. This stroll has rocks in its path as God reminds me where I have missed the mark with him, however, the path I’m on that day in his word leads me to Jesus. It is in Jesus that I find my daily stroll a delight.
Why not go for a stroll with God today and discover the path on which his Spirit leads you?
