“If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”
John 4:10b New International Version
Are you thirsty? Not just thirsty for a good drink of water, but thirsty way down in your soul? So thirsty that you feel like your heart is drying up and there is nothing that can ever quench your thirst?
Jesus met a woman at a well and asked her for a drink. When she was surprised that he asked her, her being a Samaritan woman, he stated, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.” He offered her water that would give her eternal life, not just temporal life.
Do you need some living water from Jesus today? He is glad to pour out his forgiveness and love and peace to you. On the cross, he poured out his very life so that you could receive life. He offers that gift to all who would come and drink deeply of His living water.
Water is necessary for every form of life. And the living water of Jesus is necessary for you and me to have life together with Him forever. Go ahead and drink deeply of Jesus. He offers himself to you, free of charge, a living water that not only gives life to you but also cleanses you of every sin and stain in your soul.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your living water freely given to me! Thank you that you give me life! Amen!
