Living Your Best Life

Our best life happens when we rest in God.

“We are merely moving shadows,
and all our busy rushing ends in nothing.
We heap up wealth,
not knowing who will spend it.
And so, Lord, where do I put my hope?
My only hope is in you.”
Psalm 39:5-7 New Living Translation

This bison is certainly strong and can be fierce, but here he is resting in the grassy meadow near a pond, staying cool in the summer heat.

God does not give out brownie points for busyness. He doesn’t want us to take on an exhausting, unsustainable schedule. He doesn’t judge us by our completed errands list or our overbooked days. God wants us to be holistically healthy while diligently pursuing His path for His glory. He doesn’t want us to strive from personal pride or fear, leading to burnout and anxiety because we focused on our own efforts rather than God’s grace and power.

As we are bombarded by the worldview of how we should live our best lives we need reminding to not get drawn into the opinions of the world, or even other Christians, of what we should do with our time. As we follow Christ, our goal is pursuing Him with our entire heart, mind and soul. This leads us to a life of peace and contentment as we live out our true purpose created uniquely for us and His glory.

Spend some time looking at your life and rededicating it to God’s plan and purpose. Rest in His love for you, knowing that He has all things under His care and control.
