“So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
2 Corinthians 4:18 New Living Translation
Walking through such lovely woods can be dangerous. When you focus on where you are going, you may run into noxious weeds, snakes, spiders, thorny bushes and dreaded mosquitoes. You surely want to avoid those, but if you spend all your time looking down to avoid trouble, you will miss the warm, golden rays of sunshine and the beauty around you.
There are a lot of pitfalls we try to avoid in this life. Some days it takes all our strength and concentration to escape or overcome them. We often end up exhausted and defeated, having missed the beauty and warmth that was right in front of us, if only we had looked up.
Instead of spending our own strength avoiding sin and pain, spending precious time with your Heavenly Father will take your focus off the world and its troubles and onto your loving Lord. After all, He took all your pain on the cross so you could be free to live close with Him. He loved you with His life and will always love you, protect you and give you the strength you need in the face of whatever happens. Focus on the Son and the warmth of His love for you. He will take care of you on any path you travel.
“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.”
Nahum 1:7 New Living Translation
