“So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.”

Did you ever try to go on a ride when you were a child, but you were afraid you weren’t tall enough? You had to stand in front of a chart to see if you measured up to the height standards.
God asks us to do things that we feel we are not capable to accomplish. Maybe you’ve said or thought this: “I don’t have what it takes.” “I’m no expert at that.” “I would need help. There’s no one to help me.” “It’s such a huge project, I’m sure someone else can do it better.” “I just don’t measure up.”
If you’ve had any of these thoughts, I want to remind you that God never asks you to do anything for His kingdom on your own. It’s not realistic for you to have every skill needed for every task. He created us to be in community, to work together as a family, using our gifts for His kingdom together. No one measures up to the full enormity of a task without reliance on and trust in Christ.
Just like riding a roller coaster, there will be ups and downs and scary corners along the way. Even if you feel upside down, know that God is holding on to you tightly throughout your journey. With His full measure of power in your life, He can do far more in you with others than you can ever think to ask or imagine.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.”
