“Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O Lord.”
Psalm 25:7b New Living Translation

When employees at my workplace traveled overseas, they would pack as much coffee as possible in their suitcase when they returned home. It was sold to raise funds for a local charity that our organization supported annually.

Once I packed 50 one-pound packages of coffee in my bag. We were in the Colombian airport waiting to go through customs before we could board the plane. In the airport there was a lot of security due to notorious drug activity. When I neared the front of the line, I was a little nervous because security was diligently searching everybody’s coffee. And I had a LOT of it. When I arrived at the checkpoint the security guard looked seriously concerned when He saw what I had. He picked up a bag and felt it carefully, looking intently to see if he saw anything but coffee beans. It seemed like forever, but finally he looked up at me, pointed to the bag and said “good coffee!” We were relieved and headed to our flight.

Do you ever worry about what God will find when He looks deeply into your heart? We long for His love and light, yet we know the dark spaces and the sin that create a wall between us and Christ. Yet even though He closely examines your heart and knows your imperfections, He proclaims that you are loved because He created and redeemed you.

So don’t be afraid. Bring all those dark spaces to Christ. He sees them anyway. Know that He loves you and always will, for you are forever His beloved child.
