“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 English Standard Version (ESV)
Bonkers, my daughter’s cat, went on an adventure.
Last week, the house was in a ruckus, as furniture disappeared, boxes were packed, and trash was discarded. He spent many hours at his favorite window, looking for bunnies and birds, with no idea what was about to happen.
On Sunday, he was laid in his carrier, placed in a car, and two days later he and Lisa arrived in Ohio.
We wondered how he would handle the stress of the trip, and we were pleasantly surprised at how well he did. He seemed to feel secure in his carrier, and he spent much of the trip asleep. Although, as an animal, he is clueless as to what happened to him, Lisa was always by his side, and I like to think he was comforted by that.
Have you ever asked God, “Hey, I know this is in Your plan, but could you at least drop a hint as to what’s going on?!?”
In my life experiences, I have sometimes wondered why things happened as events unfolded. I’m a firm believer that everything is orchestrated under God’s perfect plan, but at times I cannot make any sense out of the chaos. Unexpected moves, the loss of loved ones, job changes, raising teens – these and many other events can leave us perplexed. We wonder what can come from these circumstances.
As Lisa’s constant presence helped Bonkers get through a stressful situation, God’s Word can help us feel His presence, especially when life seems out of control. We may never understand His plan on this side of Heaven, but it is in those moments we can trust that God has our backs.
Trust in His plan, and obey His Word, and He will provide the counsel and comfort you need.
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
Jeremiah 29:11 ESV
