We look forward to the day Christ makes all things new.
“’Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore.’”
Isaiah 65:17 New Living Translation
The scenery in this photo is a reminder of the many breathtaking places on earth that display God’s incredible creation.
Yet sin and its consequences have left their mark on our world, and we can see that reality in both nature and our communities. Right now, wildfires are burning in several parts of the country, including Colorado, destroying homes and historic landmarks. Lush green forests and life-giving water are being replaced by charred trees, piles of ash, and smoke-filled skies.
Maybe your life feels that way, too. What was once vibrant and full of energy may now seem dry, broken, or fading. Your soul might feel like the ashes left behind after a forest fire. Things are not the way they used to be, and not in a good way.
But we have hope.
God has promised that one day He will return and make all things new. There will be a new heaven and a new earth where we will live with Him forever. From where we stand today, it can be difficult to imagine such a place. Yet I look forward to seeing the beauty of that perfect, indestructible, life-giving creation—a place where we will worship our Savior and experience life as God originally intended.
As you walk through the trials of this world, whether you are watching forests burn, communities flood, or the effects of decay all around you, remember this: God is still in control. Our future is secure in Him, and what He has prepared for us will be far more glorious than anything we have known on this earth. We won’t even think about our present troubles anymore!
Praise God today for the eternal beauty in store for us when Christ returns to take us home to a new heaven and a new earth.
