There is never a chance for drought when we seek out Jesus, the only source of fresh, living water.

“Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
John 7:37-38 New Living Translation
Much of the west is in a serious drought. Watering farmland or pasture becomes a necessity for crops to survive and for farm animals to have enough to eat. This water comes at an ever-increasing price due to its growing scarcity, but without it everything would die.
Our souls can end up in a drought if we don’t water them with a regular supply of God’s Word. We need the lifegiving water of Jesus to keep us from drying up and wasting away from spiritual thirst. The dust and debris of life that clings to us has no chance of remaining when we bathe ourselves in Jesus’ words, wisdom and promises.
God also pours out the living water of Baptism over us, to draw us close to Him so we may never be spiritually parched again. He knows that we need to drink water to stay physically healthy and, above all, His living water of life to quench our thirsty souls.
God asks us to offer springs of eternal water to anyone who is thirsty for forgiveness and hope. He is the only one who provides an eternal water source that will never run dry, and He wants all people to experience the abundant streams of eternal life in Him.
“But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.”
John 4:14 New Living Translation
